Scrambled alien looking LCD display yesterday? (AirGradient One)

Not sure where to post this, but yesterday I woke up to a very strange display pattern on the small backlit LCD panel of my I-9PSL-DE

Here are some pictures.

I had to power cycle it and it returned to normal after that. My serial # is 34b7dabd4c50 in case that matters.

Any explanation for this?

Yes, we’ve had this reported before (there’s another thread on the forum about it).

Rebooting fixes it temporarily, but it generally points to a power supply issue. Switching to a more stable power adapter is the permanent solution.

That’s odd. Been using the same Apple USB power brick for a year now, and never seen that before. Hopefully it doesn’t keep happening, but is there a particular “stable” power source that is recommended?

Reference thread:

I had the same exact issue yesterday. I am using the PSU that shipped with the unit and have not had any issues until now. The fact that many of us had the same issue around the same time is “interesting”.

Could you share a photo of the PSU and the specifications?

Sorry was mistaken. It is a USB brick that I had at home. It is a Belkin 2A unit. As the OP posted, I’ve not had any issues until last evening

Dear all, me too, at this morning having the same issue and I have to power reset (remove the USB connector and reseat it back) then issue fixed.

Has anyone tried switching the PSU and seeing if the issue recurs?

I have the same problem - powered it with one 2.3Amp supply for a couples years, then came downstairs one morning to the messed up display. Swapped it to it’s own power supply with larger amperage and a month later - same problem. Now I just power cycle it and it goes away. I have three other units and none of them have the same problem, although two of them have their displays off, so not sure what the difference is.

My gut is that it is not a power supply issue but code writing over the graphics memory buffer. If it was the display, it would show up closer to a reboot.

Thanks @TugBoat! Appreciate that. In that case, I will bring this up with the team.

One of my Airgradient One also had this issue.
