Viewing/sharing outdoor VOC readings

I’ve bought an O-1PST since I hope it can show the area is affected by VOC pollution from nearby oil depots / chemical factories. (See e.g. https://www.tv2kosmopol.dk/koebenhavn/mystisk-lugt-pa-amager-er-tilsyneladende-forsvundet-men-sagen-er-ikke-slut-4a156 in Danish, the smell is back.)

My sensor is appearing on the map: AirGradient Global Air Quality Map

But how do I see the VOC data on the public map?

Hi @MBlissett, welcome to our community!

Currently, we don’t have VOC data displayed on the public AirGradient Map because the VOC data from the monitors is a relative index (not an absolute value) and is not comparable.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Thanks Tai.

Please keep an eye on what Purple Air are doing: hxxps://map.purpleair.com/air-quality-experimental-voc — though I’m not in a position to say whether or not it’s valid.

I’m glad there’s some discussion on how to interpret TVOC. Here in downtown Vancouver, B.C., with my One located indoors in a room with open windows and a light cross-breeze, I typically see TVOC readings that vary wildly, and this is with my One’s TVOC Learning Time Offset set to 720 h. I never smell anything to accompany the high readings, and there’s never an obvious source, indoor or out (we’re on the third floor of a condo tower). After seeing dozens of these sudden TVOC peaks since activating my One I’ve taken the approach of basically ignoring them since I can’t determine whether they’re benign or harmful, never smell anything to accompany the readings, and couldn’t do much about it even if I could. We do close windows when there’s an obvious AQI issue, such as the next door neighbor’s chimney, wildfire smoke, or even a local skunk spraying.

Hey guys @MBlissett @aqiguy, thanks a lot for sharing these!

The experimental VOC map is interesting. It seems they also use some kind of VOC index (Experimental VOC (Bosch Static IAQ).

I’ll try to discuss this with my team and see what they think.
