The Portable Air Quality Monitor We Couldn’t Find - Built Openly, Built Together

Will the companion app support smartwatches? Specifically WearOS

Hi @Austin_Richards, to my knowledge, we currently don’t have a plan for wearable device support yet. But I’ll make sure that I bring this up with our team as it’s also something I’ve been thinking about. I have a WearOS watch, and it would be handy to see the air quality metrics on our wrists.

Does AirGradient support some level of DIYing? I’ve made a portable formaldehyde sensor that I would gladly retire in favor of something more streamlined. Will I be able to retrofit the device with a Sensirion SFA30 or (once they come out) SFA40 unit?

Hi @friedmike, welcome to our community!

I’ve passed your question on to our engineering team. They’ll get back to you soon.

Hi @Austin_Richards, I hope you are doing well. I have some updates on the wearable app. We are planning to make our companion app support the Apple Watch in the future, and also the WearOS. The estimated timeline is likely towards the end of the year.

Do you have some features in mind that you would like to see in the wearable app? We would be thrilled to discuss this with you and everyone interested in the wearable app!

Hi @friedmike, We really love DIYs and we design the Go to support that ideas. The Go includes an I2C port for sensor expansion. Please note that the space inside the device is limited. You may need to remove some existing sensors on the board or modify the device enclosure.

We do not currently support formaldehyde sensors in our official release firmware. You can make a change from our source code available on GitHub.

For me the Android Wear feature I would want is support for tiles & complications so i could glance at the readings

Hi @Austin_Richards, thank you for your suggestion. I have taken a note about this for our developer!

how reliable the data is? It is a joke like outdoor unit, or better?

Not want to throw away money for another joke…

Hi @TeMpL, I assume that you mean the temperature and relative humidity readings. Is that correct?

In terms of PM2.5 readings, the Open Air (outdoor) is very accurate according to AQ-SPEC, however, the temperature and relative humidity readings of the Open Air could deviate from the ambient temperature and humidity since the sensor itself is located inside the PMS5003T to be used for increasing PM accuracy.

For the AirGradient Go, please stay tuned for our official test. Thanks!
