Disable blinking LED

Hi, I recently got the AirGradient One. It sits in my bed room and I already disabled the LED bar and the display by setting brightness to 0 for both in the config dashboard in HomeAssistant. However, I still notice a faint LED flashing every few seconds. It appears to come from the inside of the enclosure, somewhere near the top. Is it possible to disable that? We prefer to sleep in darkness and while faint, it’s still noticeable and distracting at night.

Hi @NikolausDemmel - welcome to the community!

I think what you may be referring to is the LED on CO2 sensor. Unfortunately, I do not think it is possible to disable it. But I will check with the team just in case.

Hi @NikolausDemmel,

Unfortunately, @Altair_AirGradient is correct and the LED can’t be disabled (unless the CO2 sensor is turned off entirely). However, we’ve had a few people mention this LED, and I would be interested to see if you think some kind of balancing option would be helpful.

For example, what if there was an option on the dashboard to only take a CO2 reading every 5-minutes between set hours (like 10pm - 7am)? This would decrease the regularity of the LED flashes without removing the CO2 functionality altogether.

If you believe a measure like this could help, please let us know and we can suggest it to the team.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. I see that it’s from a 3rd party sensor.

Getting readings less frequently during certain hours is an interesting proposal. However, for me in the bedroom readings are most interesting at night anyway, so it might as well be a config to reduce the reading intervals in general, not specifically in set hours. Although the downside is, that if you are looking for an update, e.g. because you are airing the room, it might be inconvenient to have infrequent readings.

In the meantime, I placed the sensor a bit further away from the bed and I don’t have direct line-of sight, so the LED is practically not visible for me any more. So I’d probably just leave it as is for the time being. No need for an update on my behalf.

Still, maybe this sensor LED is something that could be taking into consideration for future PCB iterations. Maybe a bit of plastic can shield it from being visible from outside the enclosure, without compromising airflow.

Thank you for your consideration!
