I’m signed into my air gradient one platform. I noticed that they say my “free trial” ends september 2026. I was not aware that this device requires a subscription. I speciffically chose this device because it doesn’t need a subscription. Does anyone else see this?
That is letting you know that in 1 year you’ll only get less than 90 days of retained metrics (I assume that means 89 days) unless you pay for the Premium subscription to keep longer metrics and a few advanced things. But you can still configure your device and see recent data.
There should have been a banner when you first signed into the Dashboard about the subscriptions, but here is a screenshot from AirGradient
I see. I use the device with home-assistant. Do you know if this device will still output data to home-assistant without the air gradient subscription?
Thanks for your help
Yes, it will continue to work with HA just fine without the subscription.
Everything that @MallocArray has said is true.
Right now, the premium subscription has a few advanced features - extra data storage (longer data retention before the data gets bucketed into a longer duration), the ability to set more alarms, etc. After the first year, these extra features will cost $2 per monitor, per month. However, you can avoid this fee entirely for outdoor monitors if you share the data from them publicly.
We will never force users to pay for a subscription, and we believe that the devices should always provide a good level of functionality without the need for ongoing payments. As such, the subscription will be entirely optional for a few more advanced features. Please know that the essential features of the dashboard will always remain free.
Home Assistant and other local integrations will also be completely useable without any subscription.
