Is there a method for changing the wifi network the unit connects to, or do I need to re-flash the microcontroller to start over and enter a new wifi SSID and password?
Easiest is to disable the current WiFi, restart the sensor. Then because it does not find the old WiFi SSID it will open the hotspot again with which you can connect to and enter the new WiFi credentials.
Hi @Achim_AirGradient, it’s been a while since this topic was raised and so I was wondering if this is still the only solution?
I’m not aware of another way. I would just do the firmware flash with erase.
This isn’t wholy uncommon with IoT devices. If I want to change credentials on my security cameras or smart plugs I have to factory reset them as well
So, really, there’s no way to change the SSID and password without turning off my FOUR access points so that the device can’t connect to existing WiFi? Egads.
Or reflash the firmware and select to erase the config.
You could walk the sensor far enough away from the wifi network so it boots into hotspot mode. Carry another network device with you (phone or laptop) to connect to sensor and enter new wifi credentials. Walk back to be within range of the wifi and test new credentials. You will need a USB battery power bank to keep the sensor alive. Sometimes a short walk can help solve a lot of problems
Hi @marksidell ,
You can factory reset the monitor by pressing the factory button for about 10 seconds. For the AirGradient ONE, the button is located at the back, while for the AirGradient Open Air, it’s at the bottom.
Doh. Of course. I’m an idiot. I didn’t think of doing a factory reset because that usually entails losing state. But, of course, in the case the only state to lose is the WiFi connection info.
