O-1PST Kit JST cables both the same length?

I’m trying to connect the S8 sensor in my O-1PST Kit but the cable doesn’t quite appear long enough. The instructions say to use the longer of the 2 but mine are both the same length. Is that a mistake?

In a few recent shipments the wrong cable got supplied. Please contact our support. We will send you the correct one.

I also just got two O-1PST Kits with all cables with the same length.
Just to be sure: Does this mean that the plugs between the sensors can not be changed and the cables have to be crossed? The cables are long enough to plug them into the “wrong” ports (the cables would not be crossed this way).
