Is there a difference between powering from usb-c on the PCB vs the ESP8266?

It would be a lot more convenient for me to power from the ESP (so that I can update without taking the whole thing apart), but I’m not sure if there’s any downsides.

There shouldn’t be any downside. All the power traces are connected to the D1 mini board anyway.

For power no difference but keep in mind you can only flash and debug the device through the port on the D1.
