Ideas for new Indoor Air monitor 2026

I am a happy owner of I-9PSL (ONE) and O-1PST (Open Air). I did the survey for the new Indoor Air Monitor but the following ideas only came up after the survey:

  • MOSFET load switch to save power when ws2812 are not in use. If the display consumes much idle power, feel free to connect it to the same load switch. In my use cases, I always turn off LEDs and display together. Devices like the M5Stack NanoC6 have a load switch even for just one RGB LED. This goes in line with Carbon Offsetting The AirGradient Way.
  • Keep the GPIO pins needed for SPI free and expose them via pin headers or connectors. This will allow to add Ethernet, see Ethernet Component - ESPHome - Smart Home Made Simple. Note that there are interesting options like 10BASE-T1S “Single Pair Ethernet (SPE)” on the horizon that can be used as wired smart home bus. See also: https://www.mant1s.net/. If this is too much of a trade-off, then just drop this idea. I could just replace the ESP32 with a ManT1S board and make it work with ESPHome.
  • Have two temperature sensors. One inside that can be used to temperature compensate other sensors. One external, like you already do with the Open Air Max and the Go. I would also be open to having the temperature sensor externally connected with a wire to get even higher accuracy. I plan to buy one of those modules Search Results | m5stack-store to give my monitors better temperature accuracy.
