How to turn off PM sensor fan during the night?

Hi everyone,

I absolutely love my AirGradient One and check it every day! However, there’s one small thing that slightly affects my experience —> the noise from the fan inside the PM sensor.

During the day, when there’s more ambient noise, I don’t notice it at all. But at night, when everything is quiet, it becomes quite noticeable and a bit annoying.

I’m trying to find a solution to turn off the PM sensor (or its fan) only during the night while I sleep.
Is there any API, command, or script that can power it on/off on demand?
I can handle the automation side myself — I just need to know if there’s a way to control it through software or firmware.

Any ideas or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance,
Radu

Do you hear it ongoing all of the time or does it spin up and down on a regular interval?

I sleep with one right by me and I’ve never heard the fans at all, and minor noises are particularly annoying. So I think you are having an unusual experience. Would it show up on a recording you could send to support and if it is a sound that isn’t standard they might replace the sensor.

I’m not aware of a way to disable the sensor readings for that decide over any API or configuration. Could connect it to a small outlet to power it off overnight.

You had a good idea to record it.
Since the sound level is very low, I had to amplify it a bit to be audible to my phones microphone.
it seems that I can’t attach it here, even as a link to my google drive.
The sound is continuous as far as I observed.
