First time AirGradient user with setup issues

Hi. I just received my AirGradient ONE Indoor Monitor I-9PSL (Kit). The firmware is 3.1.4.

I want to use it with Home Assistant but am confused about what to do.

The instructions state:

From version 3 onwards, the firmware also has native Home Assistant support and should get auto discovered.

Does this occur after connecting the device to WIFI?

Speaking of which, out of the box my device is not creating a temporary WIFI network as described in the instructions.

I tried to flash the firmware via the browser but got this error:

Failed to execute ‘open’ on ‘SerialPort’: Failed to open serial port.

Your AirGradient ONE should be configured to your WIFI first. The following links should be able to get you started:

Essentially, you will need to configure the AirGradent ONE to connect to your home WIFI. But you will need to connect to the ONE first by performing the above steps. Then use the browser and goto the mentioned IP address in the manual above and then configure the ONE to search for your home WIFI and enter the proper credentials.

Once all that is done , and after a few minutes, your Home Assistant should be able to detect a new device.

As I said, the device is not creating a temporary WIFI network as described in the instructions.

Do you see any message on the display after you boot the monitor?

Oh I didn’t realize I needed to press the button on the back of the device to enable wifi mode. This isn’t stated in the instructions:

  1. Power on the monitor
  2. Find a WiFi hotspot called “airgradient-xxxxx” and connect to it. Use the password "cleanair"

I got the device on my WIFI network. Now I just need to get connected to Home Assistant.
