Establishing initial TVOC baseline

In a particular space of mine due to an “outgassing” type of odor, I suspect a potential VOC contamination and hope to confirm or reject that suspicion with the AirGradient One.

I haven’t purchased it yet, but my understanding is that the AGO establishes a TVOC baseline on initial boot and from then on reports deltas from the baseline. However if my space really does have a constant VOC concentration, then the baseline is pointless and the monitor would never report an issue (unless it goes down! lol).

So my question is, in this particular scenario is there a recommended way of “calibrating” the AGO so that it will detect any a pre-existing constant VOC concentration? e.g. turn it on outside and then bring it inside? And if so, how long should I let it “acclimate” to the known good environment before moving it to the potentially contaminated environment?

Sorry if this is covered elsewhere but I really did search these forums and the website before posting!

Thanks!

I personally plug my AGO into an external battery and take it outside when I turn it on. I will leave it there for about 30 minutes, which seems to work well for both VOCs and CO2.

Make sure to also change ‘VOC/NOx Index Learning Time Offset Duration’ to 720 hours so the baseline won’t adjust every day.

Which external battery do you use? i assume it has to be some kind of uninterruptable power supply? else when you take it back in it will reset as you have to power it back into the wall? (causing it to lose power in between)?
