Do these PM readings make sense?

When I first ran ran my ONE Indoor Monitor (I-9PSL Kit) back in October, the PM reading were always essentially at zero. If my windows were closed, the CO2 and VOC VOC numbers would gradually increase throughout the day. If I opened my windows and ran my whole-house (attic) fan to bring in fresh air, the CO2 and VOC values would plummet, but the PM values would spike (maybe to like 10 for PM2.5) but then go back down once I turned off the whole house fan and closed my windows. I attributed this to the fact that we have 4 air purifiers running throughout the house.

I had to unplug my ONE and didn’t use it for months, but just turned it on a few days ago (was curious about air quality due to the fires in California). This is what I’m now seeing:

This is with windows closed and all my air purifiers running. Does this seem like legit data? I can’t figure out why it would be so high, or why it plummeted to zero suddenly then went back up. I ruled out the following as causes: running central heater, running central fan, cooking. We don’t have candles or anything burning. Moving the monitor to another room didn’t have any effect. At the very end of the graph, you can see the numbers go down. That’s because I opened my window and placed the monitor right next to it. So apparently the outdoor air, during the fires, is now cleaner than my indoor air?

This post took about a day to get approved, but in the meantime I figured out the culprit: my wife has been running a humidifier in the downstairs office. I turned it off and the PM numbers eventually went back down to zero.

Leaving this up, hopefully it helps someone!

What type of humidifier? Are you using filtered water? If it’s an atomizing humidifier it could be putting all the minerals in the water into the air.

It’s a ultrasonic humidifier, and that’s exactly what was happening; my wife had been using filtered tap water. We cleaned it thoroughly and ran it with RO water; PM levels stay at zero now.
