Assembled the unit, it boots up fine, seems to work, etc. I want to switch it to ESPHome, but I don’t get a serial device and don’t see it with ioreg

The USB-C port on the circuit board only provides power, it does not do data.
Connect a Micro-USB directly to the D1 mini and then you should be able to discover it.
