diy from scratch

Hi, im a uni student in NZ and ever since I moved to my uni halls in the city im constantly sick and I think it might be the air. I also have no money because Murphy’s law of being a student means no money =(. I was wondering is there any way I can source the parts myself and build the whole thing from scratch for cheap? Many thanks

Hi @Abdul-Rahmaan,

I’m not sure about New Zealand specifically, but all of the sensors in our monitors can be purchased from most large e-commerce sites (Plantower PMS5003, SHT40, SGP41, S8, etc). The mainboard can either be purchased from our store, or you can print it yourself using the files provided here: The AirGradient Builds Overview. We also provide the files to 3D-print the case if you’re interested!

So yes, you can definitely build a monitor yourself with locally sourced parts. However, it’s hard to judge the price and if it would be cheaper - especially as more niche goods tend to be quite expensive in New Zealand. Another idea would be to start smaller - perhaps just with the CO2 and PM sensor, and add more as you can.
