BARO Pressure Sensor

Hallo,

there are some Questions concerning the following 6 PIN-Port called:

“BME”

on the V9 Board.

  1. Does it mean, that this Port was created for the BME280 Sensor from BOSCH ?
  2. Is there any Plan to add this Sensor/Port in the Firmware Library ?
  3. If i put at this Module at this Time with FW Version 3.4.1 only as “STAND BY” (i have one in my Stock without usage)…is there any negative consequences for the Board ?

Unfortunately a BARO Pressure Sensor is missing in the AG Sensor Suite at this Time

Thank you for Reply

Hi @falcon2809! Thank you for your question. I will double check with the hardware team and update here.

I’m pretty sure that the official software doesn’t have included support at this time.

I did add a BME sensor to that port on one of mine and added a few lines of YAML in ESPHome to support it. The readings were not in line with the stock sensors so I didn’t trust the values and eventually removed it. I’m not sure if it was the 280 or some other line, maybe a 6xx?

Edit: it was a BME680 I had used attempting to get barometric pressure, but the temps never lined up with the regular AirGradient temp sensor

It does appear that the 6-pin “BME” port on the V9 board was originally intended for sensors like the Bosch BME280 (same pin layout). That said, it’s not something that’s actively supported in our official firmware.

At the moment there is no built-in support for a BME sensor in the AirGradient firmware and we’ve also decided to drop this port in newer revisions.

If you want to use a BME sensor, it’s possible via custom firmware, but as @MallocArray mentioned results may vary.

Hope that clears it up.

Thanks very much for your fast reply. That is understood so far, but there is still the Topic of an MISSING BARAO SENSOR which ever (not only the BME Type). Is there any Plans to add any in the Future.

Thank You
