Airgradient One compared to Switchbot & Netatmo

Hi,
I received my Airgradient today. I don’t want to promote other companies here, but wondered why there are almost no comparisons to be found for Netatmos Indoor unit when comparing devices. So I thought I just provide the data!

Switchbot and Airgradient have been placed outside for several minutes and then CO2 calibration was triggered manually. The devices then have been sitting next to each other for ~45-60min indoors. The Netatmo was just kept where it has been for the last couple of weeks.

For the background story: I have been using Netatmo for a couple of years. But:

  1. I was not sure if it the measurements are accurate
  2. I didn’t like that it is using the could for HomeAssistant
  3. I didn’t like that there is no USB-Power option for the other room sensors
  4. The lack of a visual indicator of CO2 bothered me a bit.

That’s why I came up with the idea of Switchbot sensors for homeoffice/-gym and bedroom and having the Airgradient in the livingroom (also as a reference of calibrating the Switchbots if necessary). Seems like the devices are pretty close to start with, nice

Thanks for posting @Kaktus317! Do you know what CO2 sensor the other devices use?

Just [from looking it up (link not allowed to smarthomescene review) it seems like the Switchbot Pro is using a NIDR Sensirion SCD40 (400-9999 ppm, ±5% accuracy). For the Netatmo I do not know.

Although it might be considered mission creep, the background noise reading on the Netamo makes me wish there were such a sensor on the Airgradient. Although we don’t breathe it in it is something carried by the air that impacts the quality of existing in a space such as a bedroom.

I agree. It is something on our agenda going into next year. A lot of indoor AQ research also focuses on noise and light intensity as a metric for the total comfort levels in a space. We have quite a bit of feedback from researchers on this as well.

Thank you for sharing this @Kaktus317 !

I want to say that I’m also a fan of SwitchBot too :eyes:

…also a big fan of AirGradient (of course)

This is mine:

My AirGradient ONE (I-9PSL) and the SwitchBot Meter Pro CO2 (+ Qingping Air Monitor Lite) usually follow the same trend as you see in the chart above.

Note: I have never manually calibrated my SwitchBot and Qingping.

I love all of them anyway as a smart home user. They work very well locally.

Netatmo devices also came to my radar a few years ago when I wanted to set up some air quality sensors in my house, but I didn’t really have a chance to try them. The reliance on its cloud-based Home Assistant integration is also a big deal for me.
