Air Quality Readings

Does this work? I mean that are these unusually low or high air quality conditions? Also, how is AQI a negative number? I also want to know what all of these stand for and what they mean. I changed the config to AQI and F. I am guessing that the CO2 is in ppm (is that correct?). The top is cut off because of the fps of the camera.

-4 could indicate a communication problem between the pms sensor and the mcu. Please check if the cable is connected properly.

will it affect the readings if accidentally melt a tiny bit of plastic off from the wires of the PMS Sensor? Or would solder bridging affect it? I do have some bridging between the pins for the wires of the PMS Sensor.

Yes could be. Please send a picture.

I haven’t checked the actual pins used on the PMS sensor port, but that bridging is very likely the issue. You may try heating it up again to see if you can get it to pool up on the pins and not between, or if you have solder wick, try to absorb some of it. Or I’ve used a solder pump to try to pull it up or even a small air puffer to try to blow away some of the hot solder.

I think I’ve removed the solder bridging between the pins, but the AQI is still -4. Apologies for my terrible soldering skills. Is the melted pool around the pins going to affect the readings? The image quality is bad but there is no solder connections between the last 2 pins.

I would suggest you use a voltage meter and check for shorts between the pins. Most digital voltage meter you can switch to a mode that beeps if you have a short.
