AirGradient Open Air Max ETA

I would love if AirGradient had radon! For now I’ve been using a RadonEye with the jdeath/rd200v2 HA addon along with some POE esphome bluetooth proxies. I find the RadonEye is more reliable than my Airthings units.

Yes, I’d like to see an Ethernet connection and PoE support for future indoor and outdoor units.

Same. TBH radon detection is a priority for me living in Minnestoa and I can’t imagine spending hundreds of dollars on a sensor missing this.

Glad to see the influencers @geerlingguy and @technotim chiming in on radon.
as someone in the northwest hills of Connecticut, it’s a concern here as well.

I didn’t realize preorders were open. Those must be some pretty expensive sensors, I really wanted the ozone, but can’t justify that price.

A version built around Bosch’s BMV080 sensor would open up some smaller (and silent) form factor possibilities, maybe something where the screen is more the central focus of the design. Would this be a big leap in costs versus the current Plantower sensor?

Sorry for replying in an old thread. Is the OpenAir Max still available? I can’t seem to find it anywhere. I’m looking for something that I can set up without having to run wires outdoors, and the solar with battery sounds promising!

Hi @yzz,

We are working on a few fixes at the moment and it will likely be available on the store again in a couple of months.

will be more accurate than current outdoor sensor, which is a total joke? or again ± 4k ?

@TeMpL The forum here is a place of respectful discussions and a comment like this is not helpful and not in the style we like to see here.

I am not sure what your accuracy statement relates to, so maybe you can clarify this. Secondly as pointed out, high quality electrochemical sensors are very expensive and these are driving up the price of the max. Check the prices of Kunak, AQmesh, and other monitors with similar features that cost 5-10k. We aim to be a fraction of these costs.
